The secret of the morning dew
is yet to be revealed
And nothing ever change as much as
when noone ever leaves
The sun has called upon the early
to find another tree
The moon has turned the tides too gently
for heavy-rooted weeds
and idle-handed deeds
They're leaving in the morning
They're heading for the plains
Once a prairie in a ginger glow
Luring earlybirds to take it slow
The dew's the same but shedding different light
No crossfield path can endure fifteen snows
I've been around this town before
I worked it through the years
The sun may be the same as then but
Not hot enough to sear
I've bidden all my hope and prospects
to the gurus of the flats
And now I've gotten used to wait out
The closing of the acts
And time can't heal no facts
They're leaving for adventures
But mild enough to tame

Octave fuzz and plenty of swagger. Solid, surprising, catchy and replayable.
Addendum: Ive replayed this many times now and each song becomes my favourite when it comes on now...Then the album is over far too quickly and I'm singing along with more and more of it and that's the best sign isn't it? A truly consistent, infectious listen.

Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
